Marion Strunk (*1949, geb. in Deutschland) ist Künstlerin, Kulturwissenschaftlerin und Professorin an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Zürich. Strunk studierte Bildende Kunst an der Universität der Künste und Kunstgeschichte an der Freien Universität in Berlin. Ihre Werke befinden sich in öffentlichen und privaten Schweizer Kunstsammlungen. Die Hauptfrage von Marion Strunks Arbeit ist: Was ist ein Bild? Indem sie Fotografie und Faden zusammenbringt, kann gezeigt werden, was ein Bild eigentlich ist: eine Fiktion. Der Faden ist immer konkret im Bild, er kann angefasst werden und ist in diesem Moment wirklich ein Faden. Im öffentlichen Raum zeigt sie das Thema in umgekehrter Form: Sie legt Wollknäuel in Hecken oder in Bäume, formt Knäuel zu Formen oder umwickelt sie mit Skulpturen - der Faden, das Künstliche, verbindet sich mit der Realität, der Kultur und der Natur.

Marion Strunk (*1949, born in Germany) is an artist, cultural scientist and professor at the Zurich University of the Arts. She lives and works in Zurich. She studied fine arts at the University of the Arts and art history at Freie Universität in Berlin. Her works are in public and private Swiss art collections. The main question of Marion Strunks work is: What is an image? By bringing together photography and thread it can be shown what a picture actually is: a fiction. The thread is always concretely in the picture, it can be touched and is really a thread at that moment. In public space she shows the theme in reverse: She puts balls of wool in hedges or in trees, form balls into shapes or wraps sculptures around them – the thread, the artificial, connects with reality, culture and nature.
